Welcome Guide – Professional

Hats off to you!

You are taking the first step in handcrafting the compelling brand identity you’ve dreamt about for your business.

I started my business because I craved connection with clients like you who want to do things differently and stand out in a way that feels and looks just right.

Up to this point, you may have pushed through hours of DIY-ing the pieces of your business puzzle – including your branding – and landed in a place where there’s just something missing. You desire to show up with a brand as strong, unique, and purposeful as your business while spending less time worrying and more time on the parts that light a fire inside you. You just need individualized care from someone who knows how to bring those little design details to life.

Good news. That’s exactly where you’ve arrived. I’m so happy our worlds have collided.

This webpage serves as a reference point for us as we work together. Take a moment to get excited at the details, learn how I work, and complete a few essential steps to kick us off. Bookmark this guide somewhere safe so you can get your questions answered right away anytime something pops up.

THE RESULT:

A strategically and intentionally designed brand identity and done-for-you website delivered to you with easy-to-implement style guides and brand standards so your brand goes to work for you right away, the right way.

Timeframe: 6-8 weeks.
Includes two rounds of revisions for branding and two for web design.

Design Process

01. Chat

We’ll hop on a phone or video chat to discuss your business, goals, audience, and the big why that gets you out of bed to do this work every day. We’ll also discuss any branding ideas you may already have.

02. Submit Down Payment

Your project will be split into three payments. The first third is due up front in order for the project to begin.

03. Discovery

You’ll receive a short questionnaire that helps me understand your brand.

04. Brand Strategy and Development
(~ One Week)

I research your inspirations, competitors, audience, and everything in between. I collect what we’ve discussed and develop a succinct brand strategy and direction. I’ll create your moodboard, color palette, and font direction and present the initial concept to you.

05. Brand Exploration and Development
(~ Two Weeks)

This is where the fun begins. I build the first reveal of your logo and other elements. I strategically create a visual concept and breathe life into your brand identity.

06. Review the Initial Brand

We’ll review your branding elements and discuss any refinements you would like to make. Two rounds of refinements are included with your package.

07. Submit Payment

Your second payment is due in order to receive your brand graphics.

08. Get Your Final Brand

Together, we created something beautiful! With your final approval and payment, you’ll receive your logo and other brand elements packaged up in a way that’s easy for you to navigate and save in a safe spot.

09. Start with Web Design Essentials

I send an invitation to create a Squarespace account or request an invitation to contribute to your already existing account. I’ll also get any other login information I need for integrations, like your current domain or hosting accounts, scheduling software, or email marketing accounts, so I can implement those as I build your design. At this time, I also need your completed copywriting and photos for the site.

10. Web Design Draft and Delivery
(~ Two Weeks)

I build the design and layout of your website utilizing your new brand elements. I custom code the mobile version of the website and when both are finished, send you a link to preview the design with a video walkthrough of each page.

11. Review the Intial Web Design

We’ll discuss any refinements you would like to make. Two additional rounds of refinements are included in the Professional package. I’ll make the requested changes or offer my professional insight on strategies that might work best to achieve your desired results.

12. Submit Payment

With your final approval of the design your final payment is due in order to receive final control of your website.

13. Website Finishings and Launch Time

I test all the web links and forms (which requires a little bit of coordination from you) and I make sure your integrations are working properly. Then, your website is ready! We set your page to public and I do a final hand-off including tutorial videos that empower you to update on your terms as your business grows.

What You Can Expect From Me

THROUGH AND STRATEGIC GUIDANCE

We’re in this together. As we move through our project, all of your feedback will be deeply considered and I’ll guide us through making the right decisions for what we’re aiming to accomplish.

DEDICATION TO YOUR DESIGN

To provide the level of quality I believe my clients deserve, I only work with 1 to 3 clients at any given point. This allows me to work much more intimately with you and reply much faster.

COMMUNICATION

I keep a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule Monday through Friday and can be contacted by email at info@kalieberkey.com. Feel free to send me questions, comments, and ideas after hours and I will respond to you when business hours resume.

My priority is making sure you feel involved and taken care of throughout the design process. Unlimited email and scheduled video and phone call support are available throughout your project.

TIMELY RESPONSE

In general, you can expect to hear back from me within one to two business days.

INTENTIONAL TOOLS

I’ve selected tools to streamline our work together. You’ll receive video walkthroughs and tutorials through Loom, final designs as JPG, PDF, or PNG files, web design previews through Squarespace, templates through Canva, invoices through Freshbooks, and Dubsado for additional documents that may be necessary.

TRANSPARENT PRICING

If we’ve made it this far, you know that 50% of your project payment has already been received and 50% will be due when we’re finished. Once your package is paid in full, I’ll send you a zipped folder with your final deliverables. Additional design projects are charged at a $45/hr rate and are invoiced on the first of each month. I am happy to accept Venmo, credit cards via Paypal, or checks.

What I Need From You

  1. Fill out your client questionnaire within one week. This deadline is very important. If I don’t have the information I need from you, the timeline for our entire project is subject to change.

  2. Send me high-quality jpeg images of you or your business.

  3. Please finalize your web copy for each page of the website that we have discussed. Please send me the fully edited, final versions.

Need a little help? Ashley Writes has a great free template that can give you a head start. Or, if you prefer to relax and let someone else handle the word magic, Angelica Ross offers full-service copywriting.

  4. Already have your own website domain and hosting set up? Fantastic! Before I can even begin I’ll need access to these accounts. You can grant me administrator privileges or simply share your login information.

  5. Please add me as an administrator to any additional software accounts you would like connected to your website or you can provide me with your login information.

  6. Timely responses are essential to ensure our project stays on track. If there’s a lack of response from you for an extended period (as defined in our contract), a restart fee may be applied. This fee helps cover the additional time required to re-familiarize myself with the project details. It also ensures fairness in scheduling, as delays can impact my ability to dedicate time to other clients.

Tips to Make Our Time Successful

Best Practices for Giving Feedback

  • Be transparent. I can’t fix something if I don’t know it’s not clicking for you.

  • Remember where we started. Before opening my designs, I would encourage you to remind yourself why you reached out to me in the first place. What were you seeking, and what were you hoping for? Try to frame your feedback through those original goals.

  • Remember who this is for. Your clients and their opinions matter just as much as yours do when it comes to your brand, if not more. Think about how they will interpret or interact with this design and know that my suggestions are based on this.

  • Remember that nothing is permanent or unable to be tweaked. I believe in both of us to make it better. Together.

  • Don’t show this to everyone you know (yet). We don’t want too many voices weighing in on your drafts. It pulls you away from the goals you’ve set for yourself and your business and it muddies my understanding of what you want. Keep this between you and me until we refine it to completion.

  • Don’t make detailed design suggestions. Just alerting me of the things that don’t work is enough to get us moving in the right direction.

  • Provide me feedback as soon as possible. Timely, attentive feedback is how we move forward on your timeline so your branding can be out in the world sooner. Know that delays in communication will result in delayed timelines.
